Ngā Kete Rangahau Māori Research Symposium 2024

The second Ngā Kete Rangahau Māori Research Symposium wrapped up today in Tāmaki, hosted by Wai Rangahau, Te Whānau o Waipareira, and Te Whare Wānanga o Awanuiārangi. This year’s theme, Artificial Intelligence, Māori Data, and the Implications for Māori Research, brought together thought leaders to explore the potential and challenges of AI.

The symposium emphasised Māori perspectives and data sovereignty in the context of technological advancement. A stellar line-up of speakers shared their expertise and insights and included:

  • Dr. Denise Neumann, Research Fellow
  • Lee Timutimu, Māori AI Specialist
  • Thomas Clark, Māori Business Development Specialist
  • Professor Te Kani Kingi, Waipareira Ethics Committee Chair
  • Hector Kaiwai, Wai Research Director

We also mihi Matua Albie for his tautoko and thank everyone who attended and contributed to making this symposium a success.
